ABout Rachel☝🏻
I am an experienced product designer based in New Jersey and New York, with experience in complex, highly regulated products. As of late, I was employed at Colonial Surety, where I was responsible for conducting research and design for the marketing site, product application flows, and policy management dashboards for multiple user types.

In essence, I focused on translating complex business rules into clear, scalable systems that support confident decision-making. Given my educational background in finance, mathematics, and psychology, I enjoy integrating business logic and human behavior into creating designs that feel intuitive and trustworthy. I primarily focus on decreasing friction, clarifying intent, and building systems that teams can grow and maintain over time.
From Numbers to Design: I began my career in finance, where I worked with data, rules, and risk for 4 years. Ultimately, wanting to be closer to real user problems, I transitioned into product design and used my background in mathematics and psychology to translate complex requirements into clear, usable systems. I've spent the majority of my product design career in insurtech, working with the team to distill dense business logic into experiences users understand and complete with confidence. I primarily focus on designing scalable systems that work beyond the happy path.

Evidence-Based Decision Making

I use research and data to guide design decisions, providing ideas based on real user behavior and measurable business impact.

Transparent and Collaborative

I always work with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals and visions.

A Little More About Me
I am naturally curious about trying new things. Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies, along with visiting museums and places like Disney and Universal Studios. While I enjoy them, I also like seeing how well they were planned and how the designers used systems, storytelling, and environment to create an experience. How a brand helps create feelings and guide behavior while creating a product has helped me come up with many small ideas that can be helpful when thinking about design.

At home, I also enjoy spending time playing board games with my family and friends (I have over 20 games!). I also love just hanging out with my cat, Boree. 🐈🐾
